Am Sonntagabend bei der Partie gegen den SC Freiburg wird Alex Meier noch fehlen. Damals befürchtete man nicht, dass die Verletzung im Oberschenkel eine solch lange Ausfallzeit nach sich zieht.

Meier äußert sich im Kicker nun selbstkritisch: „Ich habe einfach zu früh angefangen.“ Mit der Folge, „dass es noch einmal reingestochen hat in den Muskel an der gleichen Stelle.“ Nach weiteren Untersuchungen stelle sich heraus, dass die Probleme vom Rücken ausgingen. Nun schlägt die umfangreiche Behandlung endlich an: „Leichtes Training, Elektro, Massage – es geht mir jetzt schon viel besser. Spätestens Anfang nächster Woche steige ich mit 100 Prozent voll ins Training ein.“ Trainer Armin Veh sehnt die Rückkehr des Langen herbei: „Wir spielen auch ohne Alex gut, schießen auch ohne ihn Tore. Ich wäre trotzdem froh, wenn er bald zurückkommt.“

Zwar bedauert Meier, dass er den kompletten September als Zuschauer erleben musste, aber die Mannschaft konnte dies gut wegstecken: „Es freut mich aber für die Jungs, dass sie eine solche super Serie hingelegt haben.“ Jetzt möchte auch er wieder voll angreifen: „Nürnberg muss das Ziel sein.“

Zuvor aber steht die schwierige Aufgabe gegen den SC Freiburg an. Und der Neuzugang aus dem Breisgau, Johannes Flum, warnt: „Das wird eine wahnsinnig schwierige Aufgabe. Dass meine Ex-Kollegen nicht so gut gestartet sind, hat nichts zu heißen. Freiburg ist sehr heimstark.“
